I will only give the result: The dining table was pushed into the bay and
the curtain opened to let a ray of sunlight shine across the masses of
flowers - 40 different lots I should think - all his friends - the
Alembic
and people from, New York,
Syracuse, even Chicago. Great masses
of roses, pink and white, Carnation, Violets (loads) Narcissus, red roses,
jars full. Clustered about the casket (which was veiled in white lace) a huge
dark green wreath with violets and white roses (from Fred) at the foot - standing against it. On the foot
a lovely primrose wreath from Mrs. Alling,
and then a big
one of pink roses and lillies of the valley by Mrs. Watson,
and
then one of red carnations veiled in maiden hair fern from Harry. Only a few roses and some violets in the
other room. Jenny
opened the door,
Mrs. Hoyt spoke to each one and
Fred and I were up in the nursery with
Claude and Henry most of the time. Only invited people (30 or 40) came and
sat about without being in rooms. There was a small are but cheerful fire in
the grate. In the dining room were,
Mother, Mrs.
Wilkinson, Rebecca Blackwood
