May. 1. Fri. Slush! Had a horrid lunch at Sibley's & all sorts of experiences coming home! Caught in rain - forgot packages - lost veil, broke bag! &c. &c. Mother feeling badly & everything discouraging besides which Miss E.L.F. at office acts very mean. May 2. Sat. Cold today. Father read "The Hasheesh Eater."
May 3. Sun.
Chan. 20 wk 14:6.
Went to the office this morning to meet J.W. & Gilmore & send off an important proposal. Met Claude. Went up there later (Henry had gone to Gran'ma's & I didn't see him) & then to Davises where I saw little Emily
& Frances together. A great deal of hubbub there! Emily
is "way ahead of Frances & Henry & isn't "babyish" any more - but "smart" May 4. Mon
Carroll baby girl (2nd) born
Lunched at Cafeteria with girls. Tonight went to Jessie Bonstell's opening "The Road to Yesterday"
- based on Transmigration and very clever. Enjoyed it much. Bessie-Bob, Mary-Belle, Edith & I were the company. May 5. Tues. Lunch at Cafeteria. Dear Mother still "hobbling" and I getting breakfast &c. May 6. Wed. Had my wheel fixed up ($1.00) & rode to the office. Went to the (new) Samovar with Mary-Belle this noon (not so good as Mrs. Hall's) An ex- press wagon & horse got stranded on the top of Exchange St. bridge. They were getting him down tonight. The bridge is up for weeks I judge. Tonight Edith had a lovely "thimble" party. Mary B. Bessie Bob, Miss Maise, Pearl
& Myra Crawley & Miss Gridley. A lovely table - guesses prizes &c.&c. Ida & Harry were very nice I almost got first prize guessing names &c. Rained!
