walked down with me and we had quite a talk before the fire (mostly about dear Char) and when he went I changed more things lit all the candles in my room &c. &c. A restless season - after supper put on my new bath robe & finished "Brewster's millions"

 lent me. Then wrote - now bed! Jan. 11 Sat. This week has been - well winter weather, any way, mostly bright and cold. Claude went to New York Wednesday morning & is with the Wilkinsons - and today at Briarcliff with Jo. Miss Jones
 is taking care of the babies & I'm of the office. J.G. is wrestling with telephone deal & has agreed to take care of me in the matter (I have it written down) I stayed down to dinner 4 times - Monday & Wednesday at the Cafeteria with the girls (went to S.D.
box &c) Friday at Sibley's with Papa and today at the Samovar with Edith J. & Bess. Expected to meet Edith A at Dr. Hoyt's, but she didn't come. Tuesday night (in a short storm) "Aunt Edie" & I went down to visit Bess and Mary Belle and last night the 8 of us from the office (Miss Flack,
McAffrey, Bradshaw, Mr. Flack, Harper
, Crippen
, Bridgeman
& "Mh") went over to Elm St. & bowled 3 games. It was very good fun & we all enjoyed it - till nearly 8 o'clock (from 5:45) Had supper when I got home. I'm reading "Alice- for- Short"
aloud to Mother & "The Halo" and "Little Rivers"
(Van Dyke) to myself.
