5/25/09 "Her own way"
coming down - the blooms are so lovely every where - and caught up with Minnie & Lillie Graigen - who made me come in and fed me "divinity fudge"! May 24 Mon. Perfect day, but uneventful. Settled on my vacation to begin Aug 23 - as J.G. prefers to have me wait till J.W. gets back! We are to add 3 stories to the Cutler bldg! Sat on piazza with Marguerite tonight. May 25 Tues. Fine. Lunched at Cafeteria (alone) & over- hauled safe deposit box. Letitia was down on her wheel early this eve. & Miss Gucher came to see Father. Went to Lyceum with Bess & Mary to see "Her own way"
tonight. May 26 Thurs. Finer weather. Vacations being stirred up. Went to CFB's with two red astrachan apple trees tonight, to be set out for my boys. Had supper with my big Boy. It was lovely there. Stopped at Amelie's for a nice visit & she told me about Herma's expectations. Finished "Araminta."
May 27 Thurs. Poured in a.m. JWC & "Amy" went to Europe for a motor trip with Mr. Whitney & Mr. Ed. Clark. Germany, Austrian Tyrol, Italian Lakes, Geneva, France, Normandy, England &c. &c. (Passage money $910.00 for J & A!) Cloudy in p.m. Mother, 'Titia & the babies had a drive & a nice call on Mrs. Walter Smith. & her children. I mowed the lawn tonight. May 28, Friday. Cloudy & cold. We had a furnace fire! Lunch alone at Sibleys - to Hippodrome (It's very good nowaways -- moving pictures) & shopped some
