Dec. 28 & 29 Mon. & Tues. Spent Monday in bed & a good deal of Tuesday on the couch but went down town in the afternoon & to Cro'nest to call on Jo. & to Mrs. Crother's

too - & felt better. Claude gave his big Humdrum dinner - with great success. Monday night (Letitia steered) I began reading "The Testing of Diana Mallory"
- which I enjoy. Trudy gave it to me. Dec. 30 Wed. Dear Mother's 71st birthday. To the office which rather used me up. Father read aloud tonight. Bed early. Dec. 31 Thurs. More office. Lunch with Jo. at Sibley's - used up-ed-ness. Some reading aloud and a lot of writing - and now it's almost 1909. Jan. 1 Fri. A cold sunny day. Mother went to prayer meeting. I went over to Meta's to see Herma's wedding pictures which are by Dudley Hoyt & very "artistic" - but Meta thinks (& so do I) not so good as mine. Wrote J.G.C. asking him to raise my salary (he's in N.Y.)- but he doesn't begin to know - nor to dream what I do for him every day & have done for 20 years nearly.
