day dozing, tending cats, finishing "Spoils of Poynton" & "Sanctuary" and "Gallops 2" and looking at DuMaurier's dear drawings &c. Mr. Jones (CFB's)
came in the p.m., but I wasn't equal to seeing him, tho' I did come down later & eat supper with the family. Jan. 15 Mon Knew I had to be down this morning, so I went early and worked hard. Pretty well used up by pm. but I think I get over things reasonably quickly - my "constitution" I suppose! Mother went to Flossey's demonstration, but I wasn't equal to that. Wrote letters &c. Jan 16. Tues. Got down very early but J.G. was there first. He went before JW came (He was also early) and had a nice little chat with J.W. He was in fine spirits. Stormed in the afternoon. Flack says Edward (JGC's chaffeur) went to N.Y. with them. Dear Claude came in to see me full of good news &c. Had a visit with Lura at 5:30. flinch &c. tonight. Jan 17. Wed Stormy morning. Mother went to prayer meeting tonight and while she was gone Char and Claude came to see me. We had a nice visit. A regular snow storm later. Mother was white. Jan. 18. Thu. The ground was covered thick this morning, but it didn't last at all. It is certainly a very mild winter so far. No skating yet on the canal. It
