Flack left on the Empire. He is going to Cuba for a month. Wrote letters tonight. Jan. 30-31 Wed-Thurs J.G. home sick. Lots to do. Down to zero again. Flack sailed Thursday on the "Merida". I went over to Marguerite Rowe's a little while. Then read the Century. Feb. 1 Fri. Bright and wintry. Had lunch with J.G.C. at Sibley's (not good, either) & tonight went to Mary's to "an informal flinch party", I think they'd call it in the Society Column (they called it "an informal skating party" that Char & Claude went to.) Bess Hutchinson & Mame Dickens were there - & Edith & we had a real jolly time. Bess H. told me a new limerick coming home "There was a young lady named Eros who went to a ball dressed as Venus. They said "It is rude To come dressed so nude (or something like that) We'll give you a leaf from the green - us" came & went in car with Fred

. Feb. 2 Sat. Warm & sloppy. The ground hog had just one moment to see his shadow & made the most of it - for tho' I came home in a warm soaking rain at 6:30 - I'm now shivering in a knit shawl - the wind is roaring around the gables & everything has frozen up outside.
