Jan. 17 Thurs Much colder. Went down early (with Meta & Frieda) JWC went to N.Y. to the Automobile Show. JG. is there now. Went to Mrs. Weston's to be "tried on". Read "Audrey Craven" by May Sinclair tonight. Jan 18. Fri. Dark & horrid. Lunched at Sibs. with Papa - who is still about half sick. Went for a brushing but Nan forgot & wasn't ready. Went to Mrs. Weston's tonight. Read "Audrey Craven" again. It is fine. Jan 19 Sat. Jack quite sick - tonsilitis I think. Rained this morning. Then the sun came out! Getting along fine at the office - started our New system of blanks today. JW got home this p.m. My new brown dress came home tonight. Sewed a little figured a little, wrote a little, read a little. Had a fine letter - & pictures - from Charlotte Steere yesterday. Jan. 20 Sun. Jack still sick, but sitting up in Mother's room. It was terribly windy and much to our suprise Char came down with Henry in his carriage! (also Carl) It didn't hurt him a bit - being nearly blown off the bridge. His Aunt Maisie carried him about & Meta came over to see him and Char took him home on the car. Carl wouldn't follow, but came back and sat by the carriage. Pretty soon I took Carl & the carriage home - (& the family were much delighted.) It snow - flurried. Then I went over to Chattie's and had a nice chat about "Audrey Craven" &c. Didn't stay to supper (tho' they urged me) but came home to it. Jack feeling pretty badly tonight. We tried to "cheer him up".
