Dec. 31 Mon another day after. J.W. was hard on me Saturday (when I was tired) but good today so I felt much better tonight. Read &c. Took a bath & went to bed rather early and didn't hear a sound of the midnight noises!

1907.
Jan. 1. Tues. All the snow is gone and the day is mild and cloudy. Mother went to 9:30 prayer- meeting & after dishes I sent the morning clearing out my desk - tearing up letters &c. &c. Dinner about 2:30. A visit with Meta and then Mary & Nellie called - a nice letter from Alice, too. Then I wrote till 6. Later I made some nice cream toast for Fred - who is sick & then we had our supper and Mother & I went over to call on Mrs. Rowe & Marguerite. Zenda came too - went around purring against the furniture & finally sat down in a chair & folded her paws with a company expression, till Marguerite began playing the piano which so astonished & horrified her that she went home! Read, later
