Dec 29 Sat. About dead today and so disgusted with the Cutlers' cowardice and parsimony. Why can't they be men! and the Grand Mayor is the smallest of all! If they'd only learn from - well Claude for instance - and a hundred others to know what the "Christmas spirit" is - all the year round. Did accts. tonight. Dec 30 Sun. Dear Mother's 69th birthday. Persuaded her to come up to Cro'nest at noon and have her picture taken with little Henry. (It will be a funny one of him!) He stuck his tongue out & spoiled one. We rode down together and almost before I finished dinner callers, began - like this: Laura Hutchinson came Edith Joiner came: Laura went. Grace and Ruth Dowling came:Bess Hutchinson & Miss Dickens came: Chattie & Helen Davis came: The Dowlings went: Edith, Bess & Marie went: The Davises stayed to supper & till 8:30! I did enjoy it and everybody seemed to. Edith, Bess, Marie, Grace
& Ruth
were all in the Adirondacks together this summer. Laura wants me to go to Bermuda with her this winter! Helen leaves for Florida with the Gouches the last of this week! Chattie has a lovely new Persian lamb coat & Muff. Mrs. Davis is just home from Bedford.
