Dec 26 Wed "The day after" Busy - wrote letters. Read. Mother went to church. Dec. 27 Thurs Sort of rainy & horrid. Called on the Dowling girls & Mrs. Wetmore tonight & later Mother & I went over to Baker's to see their Xmas things. Lura got 5 pairs of silk stockings! I wrote two letters later. Dec. 28 Fri.

Henry has begun gaining again! He's stood still for about a month and we were worried. Dark, dull day. Lunched at Sibley's & shopped. Tonight put on my prettiest new gown & went to Mabel's "ball" - stopping at Mac Arthurs to see Nellie's & Mary's presents. Edith came too & Lura. They all gushed over my dress. The Davises came but Kitty Crichton was too ill with a cold, so Belle, May, Mabel, April & Florence
 all played pedro with us and we had an awfully good time. Mabel had funny candy baskets as favors at table & told funny stories about the "English visitors" at her school &c. Had to wait a long time for both cars & didn't get to sleep anyway till after two!
