on a bench put under a tree on purpose. When we had rested some (were both pretty tired) we went back & waited along with some women "with little bags covered with pant cloth" under an awning for a car. We took a car going back another way - still thro' Brookline - & its tasteful little Estates - & down to the City, coming up Blagden St. past the other side of the Library. We tho't we'd go into the Museum first. Found a lot of "copyists", there both male & female, draw- ing from casts! It was different crowd however from the N.Y. set. I was delighted with the casts - which filled nearly are of the first story. There was the real "oldest book in the world" - a hieroglyphic stone - under glass - lots of Egyptians stuff - Greek & Roman - a room full of Florentine - the some American - Venus was there & Apollo in various forms. Many ancient mutilated things. The lovely Winged Victory. The Head of David. The two tombs of the Medici. The doors of the Baptistry &c.&c.&c.
