of the others, too. I did not see many new pictures but enjoyed the old favorites! I think Bastien Le- Page's "Joan" is lovely- in face certainly. There were Turner's & Constable's and Valesques & Rubens & Gainsborough's & a wonderful mosaic &c. &c. I was interested in tokens given to Cyrus Field
when the Atlantic Cable was finished & also sword to Gen. Sherman and a collection of miniatures &c. &c. We left before 5. & walked a mile down thro' the park
- wet yet & dripping, but glittering with an occassional sunbeam. The boys were having great fun sailing boats on the pond. We went to the menagerie & saw the animals- as always the cat family were the most interesting to me & a baby leopard was a joy. The hippopotami were out doors (I'm thankful to say) and homelier than ever! The monkeys were full of fun & fight. The deer were tame & coaxing. The other
