pressed me - Three sides (all the "show" sides) of the upstairs room
were full - under glass. It was raining when we came out &
we started for the Grand Union and it was pouring when we reached there - lucky we didn't
stop, for it continued while we were eating lunch got so dark that
the lights were all turned on & the waiters mentioned the end of
the world(!). I put Mama up in the
parlor & went out into the freshet and swam over to the
4th Ave.
car & came down to 16th St. for
Mackintosh & rubbers &c. Got back in about an hour & we rigged
up and got into a Madison Ave.
car (it was still pouring) & went up to 82nd
St. & the Museum
- some funny little girls in the car were giving
excited descriptions of a schoolmate who had hysterics! a girl
opposite had her hair combed this way
Doubt if she had any ears! We swam over to the
Museum
