1895.
Sept 4. Wed. Much the same sort of a day as yester- day. Oppressive just before supper but afterward - when I started off on Diana, quite comfortable. Got to Mary's at six and we wended our devious way down Sophia & State Sts. to Ned's - where she & Edith joined us. E. on Ella Cross's old "Singer." We had a fine ride to the Lake. Edith & Mary rode together & Ned & I. The sun set & the moon rose (be- hind clouds) & the air was fresh and cool enough. It was dark when we reached Windsor Beach. We sat and rested and watched the electric fountain against the dark sky - & way up behind the moon now & then appearing. Ned & Edith took the first car back (only 2 could go together & take wheels) because Ned expected Mr. Whitcomb at 9:25. Mary and I followed in about 10 minutes and arrived down town about quarter of nine. Felt fine. Waited for the bridge & a raft a long time. Stopped at Mary's & chatted with the girls & Warren Fisk
