the riders of passing wheels. Took Ned's
picture! I can't describe the delightful morning in
the beautiful park - spins on clean white roads - about curves -
down & up hills - along the borders of the lake & above the
river-banks - everything sparkling in the clear morning light. First
stop was a table & benches on a bank overhanging in the river &
here we chatted a long time - ate thorn apples. & played
billiards (?) with them. Made various jokes & had our saddles &
handle bars adjusted. Also inspected
Charlotte's new shoes - & the
scenery! Then away we flew again - tearing up the hill to the
"Shelter" where we held a siesta & took some
pictures on the hill's crest. I took the 3 & our wheels stacked.
Helen took me a-la-Sarony
(3rd attempt!) and I took Frank
a-la-dying Gladiator (Ned posed him.)
Then we went into the restaurant (which we had to ourselves) and had
"Pun'kin pie & a glass of milk" a-la-Hosea Howe. Next we explored the
park to the end & examined the Rifle Range & then back again
(this road was horrid)
1895.
