straightened out and on board the train for home at last. It poured when we reached the city - but I stopped, nevertheless, - to leave my films at Hovey's. At home I found a warm welcome & a warm supper & real coffee waiting for me! - and 3 letters to read from the Dear Boy. All the evening was unpacking & talking and a half-hour's visit with Edith - who came after tea. Aug 2. Friday. Pleasant. Lovely in fact. Tonight Mary & I went to Davis' & rehearsed our story to their ready ears. Lura & Matie A. dropped in & Frank walked home with us. We stopped at Curran's for ice cream soda on the way. Gilmore says J.G. has asked for me everyday! Aug 3. Sat. A bright morning - but my disappointment came to find half- or over - of my films spoilt by a bad shutter - it was a disappointment too. I spent my half holiday taking blue- prints of them & the 4x5's and a storm came up so I had to leave Diana at the office & walk home under J.G's um- brella. Stopped at Mary's & we giggled & condoled over the prints on her piazza - in the rain. After supper she & I made a pilgrimage to Edith's - to take Freddie's bathing suit &c. Came home about 9:30.
