and an interesting one and Pedro - a black cocker - is a joy. We left it all - all the "lovely crew" and Mary's "pretty boy" at Lakefield, Mr.Graham saw us to the station & into the charge of Mr. & Mrs. Barnard, our chaperones. All the "crew" came down to the train. & we staid on the platform till it moved. The capt. squoze our hands & told us to "be good girls" and we subsided to a chat with Mr. & Mrs. Barnard At Peterboro' Mr. B.
had to take charge of a 14 pound lunge (Mrs. Forbes) which he was carrying home - and we all got into a little bus and rattled to the Snowden House, where we were shown into 2nd floor front" rooms - Brussels (antique?) carpet & black walnut furniture. After a hasty toilet (It was nearly nine o'clock) we prome- naded down to the dining room where a pale "biscuit-shooter" in pink rattled off the things we might have & we com- promised with her on scrambled eggs- cold meat & coffee (?) A mild hurrah startled us & we were informed a victorious Lacrosse team had arrived from somewhere - or was leaving - After killing all the millers in our room & hanging up Tommy's flag to dry, we retired & slept.
