Lovesick Lake - I had quite a chat with "Capt. Fuller", master of locks - & on our return Tom presented me with a big package of candy. Ned presented Mary ditto. A dog which caught the steamer rope - A man who got left because he said "Goodbye" too often and 8 various other things at the different landings kept us amused. The Capt. said he had never had such a rough - bad day as yesterday since he sailed the lakes. When we reached Juniper at last and I kissed Ned goodbye & Tom bared his head for farewell I didn't know but he'd do more than shake hands. We went down to Sawyer's - and passing the camp for the last time our friends waved us good-bye till the rocks intervened. Mary & I sat by the pilot house - till we were thro' clear lake, & the capt. came and spun yarns - and Mr. Graham also seemed to enjoy our society. At Young's Point lock & we went down stairs and thro' the Katchawanoonokas sat in the Engineer's warm corner & he & we & "Pedro" ate candy and had a long talk. He is a handsome engineer
