smoked & I talked to them. Between big and little
Otter we met Ned
& Ralph, coming over for me -
& we all went over to "the store" and had "Jersey ice
cream" &c. When we got to camp, we found the
Hughes
had their tent up and were almost settled - but 'way out on the
point. Ralph
had a big bonfire in the evening and burnt up "Isabel
Gilhooley" a canoe he found. It was a very pretty fire & we
all enjoyed it - sitting around, well wrapped up and toasting our
stockinged feet - for the nights are cold. This was my first night
sleeping out doors. The sensation is delightful - well wrapped up in
blankets & the bright tent above & the wood smells about - but I
did not
July 28 Sunday
succeed in sleeping very well till morning which made us rather
late. It was a
beautiful morning, with a fresh breeze - and
after our breakfast (I made coffee &c.) We dressed & started to
get the girls & bring them to church on big Otter
Island. I rowed & took a snap at the camp as we
got off towards Otter. It was very rough over
beyond - in the channel - & the waves
